We are excited to announce that Cisco is joining Project SAIVE, a collaborative initiative with Lancaster University to combat suicide on the railways. Our focus has always been to develop technology that improves human outcomes, and with Project SAIVE, we are leveraging AI to identify individuals at risk of suicide and offer timely interventions.

Through three AI-powered technologies, our platform assesses individuals' behavior, alerts railway staff, mental health professionals and police - providing actionable advice on the response. Cisco’s involvement through its Country Digitisation Acceleration (CDA) initiative will be instrumental in addressing suicide prevention, improving passenger safety and enhancing rail productivity.

According to Gregory Butler, CEO of Purple Transform:

“The impact of suicide attempts goes beyond the disruption of services - it causes immense trauma to train drivers, station staff and witnesses. With Cisco’s support, we are moving from prototype to real-world application, taking our technology to the next level in preventing these tragedies.”

Tom Kneen, CTO Office and Head of CDA at Cisco UK & Ireland, shared:

“Cisco is proud to work with Purple Transform and Lancaster University on such an important project. Project SAIVE is about more than infrastructure protection; it’s about protecting lives.”
