As part of our mission to develop ethical AI models that improve human outcomes, we are excited to announce our collaboration with Telent on a cutting-edge technology solution that leverages data analytics, AI and machine learning to enhance the safety and performance of the UK railways.
Our AI platform, SiYtE - which collects and analyses real-time data from smart cameras and IoT sensors - is now fully integrated with Telent’s MICA workforce automation platform. This collaboration ensures that when SiYtE detects or predicts a safety incident, control room staff receive automatic alerts, enabling them to respond swiftly and decisively.
The joint solution has already been successfully deployed at Dawlish and Dawlish Warren stations in Devon, where the railway runs alongside steep cliffs. IoT sensors installed along the cliffs detect rockfalls and send automated alerts to control rooms and approaching trains. Smart cameras further enhance station safety by identifying and notifying staff of unauthorised personnel or trespassers on the tracks.
Telent’s MICA Station Management System is trusted by London Underground, DLR, and Network Rail, managing over two billion passenger movements across 240 stations, including Oxford Circus, Waterloo, and St. Pancras International. It provides real-time CCTV surveillance, public address systems, passenger help points, fire and security alarms, and more - delivered through a single pane of glass for control room operators. With Purple Transform’s advanced AI analytics, machine learning, IoT and data aggregation, the platform now unlocks hidden insights to improve safety, security, operational efficiency and passenger experiences.
According to Kevin Bonanno, Director of Rail at Telent:
"Organisations can be overwhelmed by data and extracting insights to inform operational and business decision-making has never been more complex. Combining the Telent and Purple Transform platforms simplifies the collection, correlation and visualisation of data and puts insights in front of the right person at the right time."
Gregory Butler, CEO of Purple Transform, shared:
"I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Telent for several years, and I hold its wealth of technical experience and domain expertise in the highest regard. I am thrilled to be embarking on a new journey with Telent, shaping the future of Information Systems."
Kevin Bonanno, Director of Rail at Telent, added:
"Teaming up with Purple Transform, one of the UK’s most dynamic digital technology innovators, is truly exciting.
